Hi there! I’m Kara.

You guys. Target is ripping off Anthropologie hardcore.
I have also been exploring this sketchy Chinese website called AliExpress.com (found from this Emily Henderson post) and they also have this suit for $15 but are clearly stealing Anthro’s product picture. I, being a huge cheapo, decided to take my chances on it. It’s shipping from China. I’ll let you know when/if I get it.
And then there’s also this wrap style, which comes back every year and gets yuuuuuuuge (said in my best Donald Trump voice) ratings.
Anthropologie: $118 (Anthro has this in a few prints every year)
*before I start this post, I want you to know that J.Crew has their signature leggings on sale for $20 using code FALLSALE + free shipping. If you need leggings get yourself some. They’ve got great reviews and it looks like full size runs are available in grey, navy and black.
Guys, I kind of feel like I’ve beat the system at Anthropologie, and I think I should probably share the wealth. I am too cheap to buy pretty much anything full price at Anthropologie, but I still like their stuff…for less. And because their sale rooms are kind of overwhelming and IMPOSSIBLE when you have 1-2 kids in a giant stroller, I’ve resorted to shopping online. Kind of a bummer because they rarely have free shipping, but you can make it worth your while.
Here’s how to do it: The sale section automatically takes you to “fresh cuts” which is the newly marked down items – and that’s not where you wanna be. Instead, click the “Sale” heading and click the header of the second column, “Clothes,” but this will also work for any of the headers except for “Freshly Cut.”
From there, your best option is to filter by price. A lot of the best deals seem to be returned items that are stuck back in the system and marked way down (like, 70% or more) so you might want to start with the >$50 groups. Good stuff pops up every now and then, so it’s good to check periodically – and if there’s something you want you gotta act fast! (I will note that because these are a lot of one-off items, sizing is pretty random and can sometimes be a bummer.)
Another thing to keep in mind is that Anthro usually posts online markdowns on Sunday night/Monday morning. So if there’s something you have your mind on, that might be the best time to check.
Some other notes:
- If you call an Anthro store, they will ship you stuff for free. I did this when I was looking for the pillow shams to a bedding set I bought in one store. The sales associates will also let you know if your item is located anywhere else.
- Anthro does price adjustment if an item you bought is reduced within 14 days of purchase/ship date.
- You can check to see if an item is in your nearby store using the “find in store” button on the product page.
- Anthro’s email notifications will let you know when they’re running special deals.
- If you really want to dork out, there’s a blog called Effortlessly Anthropologie that gives some good tips and hints about what sales are coming and what items may be marked down soon.
Anthropologie has an extra 30% off all their sale styles right now, and they just added (and marked down) a lot of good stuff. Here are links to some of my favorites – and all prices listed are an additional 30% off. Happy hunting!
